Welcome to the IronSightAction.com Website. This is a project I have been
working on now for over three years. You may have noticed that there has been
some changes here lately. Scroll down to see current news.
This Website is about promoting shooting and target skills by use of
simulated targets. Many people who shoot are limited to only 100 yards or less,
and do not have the opportunity or space to practice shooting at ranges of 300
or 400 yards or meters. This is where my project comes in.
Please note that the website has been streamlined. On top next to the ISA logo
there are some Main Menus. Each of these will bring up Sub Menus on the Right
Hand side.
I have changed my focus from concentrating on making a CDrom for commercial
sale. Now the focus is on giving out free targets for use and evaluation. The
core logic behind this is quite simple. Produce target training systems that
help people increase their shooting skills, and keep their shooting experiences
always fun and challenging. If they are credabile, realistic, and entertaining
then I will feel confident that should a CDrom be produced with these and more
that the CDs will sell themselves if kept at a reasonable price.
So I am placing targets up for use and evaluation. Please, if you have any
feedback on them, register and make yourself known in our forum.
Right now the primary vehicle for the targets are Adobe Acrobat PDF files.
Use of the PDF simpifies alot of the printing issues, but has been a nightmare on
assuring the end user gets a printed target to the proper mathematical size. This
is just a temporary use, leading up to the end goal of this project: Automatic
scaling software. A program that allows the user to specify the range they actually
shoot at, the simulated distance, the size of Minute of Angle (MOA) ring they wish
to achieve within the target, and what the target looks like.
Is it starting to sound a bit complicated? Well, this is just the start.
Currently I am working on targets which allow actual use of your tangent rear sight
when shooting at a simulated distance target. For example: Shooting at 100 yards
actual posted target distance at a 400 meter simulated torso. The shooter will be
able to then move ther rear sight slide adjustment to the actual 400 meter position.
The shooter would aim at the 400M simulated torso, and fire. The Point of Impact
(POI) would in theory be higher than the the actual target. I am working on having
a method of defining whether this raised group would be an actual simulated hit.
The same principle would then be applied to shoot at simulated moving targets
as well.
The base scaling engine is complete, however there still a few bugs and issues
that need working out. The final product will be targets in a bit-map format, but
that is still a bit down the road.
Thanks and let me know what you think.....

Started a second website and forum called www.freesteader.com.
This is a Pro-Libertarian website. With more of a focus on todays issues and
preparation for what could end up being not the best of times. It is an adult
oriented forum (over 18) which welcomes civil discourse from any.

Lately I have been busy working on "Projects". Its a whole lot more
complicated than that, which should not be too suprising.
Discussions with many on web forums have given me a new outlook on what my
focus here at ISA should be. Much of the work I have been doing on this target
system has been focused on keeping shooting fun and inovative. So the system
and scope of this project has grown. The trouble is, there are too many who
need help with the basics. Funamentals of marksmanship.
So I went back and revised an older target system I have done. These are really
quite simple. They are ring targets. One set based on 2 & 4 MOA, the other
based on 4 & 8 MOA. The purpose of these is to help build skill in shooting.
Its geared towards the newbie as well as the seasoned shooter.
So, If you are interested in these new targets, please look under the Download
Free Targets link above.

Since mid November, I have been to both coasts of the US, all driving. Work has picked up for me, and is now over. 9000 miles later I am tired.
Was able to pick up a new toy today, and am hoping to get some range time in tomorrow. Although its cold outside, this is the best time of the year for shooting. The range is empty, and there is alot of time off. Yeah!

Graphics and description of the Ghost Target principles are up. This is part of the goal to provide a more accurate simulation of rifle shooting. Static rifle targets with compensation for using the actual tangent rear sight settings are discussed. Plus the theory information on the concepts of Moving Ghost Targets is done.It covers principles of shooting moving targets and how do you teach shooters the idea of "Lead" aiming. These sections can be found in the Target Systems sections

Some basic descriptions of Minute of Angle and a some graphics describing the Ghost Targets are now up.
I went to the range yesterday at Gibson's Outpost in Mesquite, TX to practice pistol Targets. Specifically the newer version of the Hostage targets. I had quite a few targets with good scores, but alas I hit the center torso on every one. Its not suprising, but I like a challenge. So I will keep at it. Make mental note: 145gr JHP Brown Bear is not match quality ammunition.
